Ankara: Trkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Kuwaiti counterpart Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al-Sabah have engaged in discussions regarding the latest regional developments during a phone call, as confirmed by Turkish diplomatic sources. Details about the conversation held on Monday have not been disclosed. According to TRTworld.com, the dialogue between the two diplomats comes amid heightened regional tensions. On Saturday, Kuwait announced that its military destroyed Iranian drones following attacks on a government facility and civilian vehicles on Bubiyan Island. The incidents resulted in material damage but no casualties, as stated by Defence Ministry spokesperson Saud Al-Atwan. Hostile drones had been detected in Kuwaiti airspace since early Saturday, prompting defensive actions by the Kuwaiti armed forces. The recent escalation traces back to February when the US and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran. In retaliation, Tehran conducted missile and drone strikes targeting Gulf countries h osting US military assets. Meanwhile, efforts to resume US-Iran negotiations have stalled, with Pakistani government sources informing Anadolu that no date or venue has been finalized for direct talks intended to resolve the ongoing conflict. Despite US President Donald Trump's earlier announcement of new negotiations with Tehran scheduled for Monday afternoon, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stated that Iran is not currently engaged in discussions with Washington.
