Youm-e-Takbeer’ Commemorated for Nuclear Milestone

Islamabad: 'Youm-e-Takbeer' will be observed on Thursday to commemorate the nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan on May 28, 1998, marking a pivotal moment in the nation's defense history. This day signifies Pakistan's emergence as the seventh nuclear nation globally and the first Muslim state to acquire such capability.

According to Radio Pakistan, the landmark nuclear tests were executed by a team of scientists led by Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan and Dr. Samar Mubarakmand in the Ras Koh Hills of Chagai district, Balochistan. These tests underscored Pakistan's commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty, while also maintaining strategic equilibrium in South Asia.

The pursuit of nuclear capability was inspired by former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who famously stated that the nation would endure hardships to achieve this goal. This vision was realized under the leadership of then Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who resisted international pressures and authorized the nuclear tests in response to India's nuclear advancements, thereby reestablishing regional strategic balance.

Pakistan remains dedicated to fostering peace and stability in South Asia, ensuring its defense capabilities serve as a deterrent against any form of aggression or adventurism.
