Karachi: The 94th death anniversary of Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar, a prominent leader in the Pakistan movement, journalist, and poet, is being observed today. Known as Raees-ul-Ahrar, Maulana Jauhar made significant contributions to the struggle for a separate homeland for Muslims in South Asia. According to Radio Pakistan, Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar was born on December 10, 1878, in Rampur, British India. He pursued his education at Ali Garh College and later at Lincoln College, Oxford. His unwavering support for the creation of Pakistan and his leadership role in the Khilafat Movement marked him as a key figure in the region's history. In the realm of journalism, he made his mark by launching the English weekly "Comrade" from Calcutta in 1911 and the Urdu weekly "Hamdard" from Delhi in 1913. His literary contributions also include a collection of poetry, published under the title Deewan-e-Jauhar. Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar passed away in London in 1931. Honoring his wish, he was laid to rest in Jerusa lem, a testament to his enduring legacy.
