Star Pakistani pacer, Naseem Shah, is likely to miss the first few matches in the much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to kick off on October 5 in India.

Speaking about the injuries to Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, Babar Azam said that the 20-year-old pacer will hopefully make a comeback in the later phases of the event.

However, Babar Azam expressed hope for the availability of Haris Rauf as the PCB did not remove Rauf from the Asia Cup squad or confirm Shahnawaz Dahani as his replacement.

“I am not revealing our Plan B now. But yes, Haris Rauf is not doing too badly. He has just got a little bit of a side strain, but he is recovering before the World Cup,” Babar said.

It is worth noting that both premier fast bowlers sustained injuries during the rain-affected game of the Super 4s stage of the Asia Cup against India at R. Premadasa Stadium.

It was a significant setback for the Men in Green ahead of the critical do-or-die game against Sri Lanka, where Pakistan suffered a two-wicket defeat in a thrilling encounter.

A venture capital fund is being set up for global investors with government assistance, which will ensure at least $1 billion investment for startups.

This was shared by Caretaker Minister for IT and Telecommunications Dr. Umar Saif during a meeting with a high-level delegation of the US-AID Mission here on Thursday.

Senior Advisor to the Mission in the Private Sector, Diaspora Engagement and Digital Technology Kanwal Bokharey and ECON Counselor John Letvin were part of the delegation led by Mission Director Kate Somvongsiri. During the meeting, bilateral issues related to the investment of American companies in Pakistan were discussed.

Dr Saif offered the diaspora to come and unlock Pakistan’s investment potential and extended all his support for the “Investment in Pakistan” Conference to be held in the USA in November this year.

He told the USAID Mission that a venture capital fund is being set up for global investors with government assistance, and the fund will ensure at least a one-billion-dollar investment for startups.

Dr. Umar Saif further said that on the way of Pak-US trade relations, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the investment of $40 million at an investment conference last Saturday organized by US-AID and Silicon Valley was a big milestone.

He said Pakistan’s Information and Communication Sector is paving the way for global investment, adding that the priorities of the caretaker government include maximizing investment opportunities and providing all related incentives and facilities to global companies.

US-AID Mission Director Kate Somvongsiri said, “There is no doubt that Pakistan is a big and attractive market for investors in the IT and Telecom sector, we are trying our best to increase the collaboration between American Investors and Pakistani Companies”. She extended a special invitation to caretaker IT Minister Dr. Umar Saif to attend the investment conference to be held in the United States in the first week of November this year.

The 2nd part of the ‘Invest in Pakistan’ conference collaboration with USAID and the Organization of Pakistani-American Entrepreneurs North America (Silicon Valley) aimed to catalyze investment between the US+Pakistani diaspora and Pakistani companies.

In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at saving young lives, the Punjab government and ChildLife Foundation have officially inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the largest Emergency Room for children in Pakistan. The 100-bed, state-of-the-art facility will occupy an impressive 20,000 square feet within the premises of Children’s Hospital in Multan.

This monumental project, set to become operational by the year’s end, is set to cater to the healthcare needs of an estimated 150,000 children annually, particularly those residing in the most vulnerable and underprivileged regions of South Punjab.

ChildLife Foundation’s spokesperson emphasized the urgency of this initiative, pointing out that Pakistan currently grapples with a distressingly high child mortality rate, which could be halved with improved emergency services.

Multan, being the largest city in South Punjab, is poised to reap the benefits of this monumental endeavor, with the new Emergency Room providing free-of-charge, round-the-clock access to healthcare services for an estimated 150,000 children each year. This partnership promises to be a significant stride toward a healthier, safer future for the children of Pakistan.
