Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that we are closely following the reports about possible presence of Pakistanis in the vessel that has capsized off the coast of Italy.

In a statement issued by the foreign office on Sunday, she said that the Embassy of Pakistan in Rome is in the process of ascertaining facts from the Italian authorities.

Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has called for supporting the government decisions to strictly implement the austerity plan in the best interest of the country.

He was chairing a special session of the Business Advisory Committee of the Senatewas at the Parliament House in Islamabad to review and discuss austerity measures in wake of current financial situation of the country.

Chairman Senate observed that hard decisions have to be taken to overcome challenges on the economic front. He also sought recommendations from parliamentary heads of various political parties in the Senate.

The committee was also briefed about the steps taken for the celebration of the golden jubilee of the senate in a simple way.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Darcategorically rejected rumours about the country defaulting

He said there are economic hardships and efficient steps have been taken to overcome them. He, however, said that it is a collective responsibility and the whole nation has to contribute.

The chairman senate while expressing satisfaction on the steps taken by Ishaq Dar and his team expressed his well wishes for him.

A large number of members of the committee also attended the meeting via video link.

Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik has said PTI’s ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ has proven to be a flop show as not a single worker of the party courted arrest in Multan.

Talking to a private news channel, Musadik Malik said instead of calling his workers to court arrest, Imran Khan should show some courage and court arrest himself first.

He further said that Imran Khan considered it his political right to use offensive language against the state institutions.

Musadik Malik asserted that the polarization in Pakistani politics had aggravated to an extent that it was impossible to have a critical and rational discussion. He said the polarization needs to be de-escalated through political dialogue.

A 21-truck convoy carrying 275-ton relief assistance goods from Pakistan arrived at Malatya, one of the worst hit cities by the earthquake.

The truck convoy carrying mainly winterized tents, blankets and other essential relief goods departed from Pakistan on February 11 and reached Turkiye via Iran.

The convoy was received by Deputy Mayor Malatya Hakan Ezgi, Ambassador Fazli Corman of Turkish MOFA, Pakistan Embassy Deputy Ambassador, Abbas Sarwar Qureshi, Commander Mehmet Bhaktiyar and officials from AFAD and local administration.

Under the directions of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, an air bridge was established immediately between Islamabad and Ankara on 6th February to transport rescue teams and deliver essential relief goods.

As of now, twenty flights have brought relief assistance goods to Turkiye. A ship carrying earthquake relief goods is also scheduled to leave Pakistan for Turkiye soon.

Speaking on the occasion, Abbas Sarwar Qureshi stated that Pakistan and Turkiye have a glorious history of supporting each other under all circumstances.

Deputy Mayor Hakan Ezgi said that the trucks have not only brought relief goods but tons of prayers and best wishes from Pakistanis whose hearts beat with the hearts of Turkish brethren.

Minister for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, Abdul Qadir Patel has said the government is working on a comprehensive plan for complete eradication of various diseases from the country.

Addressing the annual meeting of Federal Directorate of Immunization in Islamabad on Sunday, he said effective measures are being adopted to make further improvements in the national immunization program.

The Minister said a collaborative strategy is being formulated to ensure 100 percent results, by reaching every child during every immunization drive in the country.
