He said the government has approved the issuance of e-passport for Pakistani citizens but this facility has not started yet.

The lawmakers have condemned the suicide attack in Peshawar and called for evolving a comprehensive and effective strategy to combat terrorism.

Taking part in the discussion in the senate on Monday on the recent wave of terrorism in the country, especially today’s terrorist blast in Peshawar, they said a collective approach is needed to fully eliminate terrorism from the country.

They demanded of the government to unearth sleeper cells of terrorists, operating across the country.

The lawmakers also called for debating the issue of terrorism in a joint session of the parliament.

Those, who spoke on the occasion, include Dr Asif Kirmani, Haji Hidayatullah, Mohsin Aziz, Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Sardar Shafique Tareen, Fida Muhammad Khan, and Rubina Khalid.

The House will continue the discussion tomorrow.

The Chairman adjourned the House to meet again at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Senate today passed two bills.

These include “The Factories (Amendment) Bill, 2022” and “The Federal Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2022”.

Addressing the “GB Dream Road Show 2023” in Islamabad on Monday, he stressed on implementing the ideas to uplift the people of the province. He underlined the importance of community participation for the development of the province.

Highlighting the tourism opportunities in the province, Dr. Arif Alvi asked the authorities concerned to improve infrastructure for providing better services to the tourists.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has vowed to implement the National Action Plan with full force to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.

He expressed the resolve during his emergency visit to Peshawar after the suicide bomb blast at Police Lines mosque.

The Prime Minister said the sinister designs of terrorists to create an atmosphere of fear and terror will be thwarted with strength of national unity. He said the capacity and efficiency of anti-terrorist institutions and police will be further enhanced.

The Prime Minister termed attacking mosques and innocent civilians during namaz in the name of Islam a cowardly act which cannot shaken the nation’s resolve against terrorism. He said the miscreants and their facilitators involved in attacks on innocent citizens would be punished for their heinous crimes.

Earlier, upon his arrival in Peshawar, Army Chief General Syed Asim Muneer received the Prime Minister.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says Pakistan intends to intensify cooperation with Russia in areas of trade, economy, security, counter-terrorism, defence, as well as cultural, educational and people to people contacts.

Addressing a joint news conference, along with his Russian Counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Monday, he said strengthening relations with Russia remains an important priority for Pakistan. He said we believe that Pak-Russia relations not only serve our national interests, but also contribute to regional, global stability and security.

The Pakistan Foreign Minister said Pakistan views Russia as an important player in the West-South and Central Asia. He said Pakistan and Russia have good cooperation on Afghanistan and we aim to continue cooperation with Russia in realizing common goals of peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said we discussed bilateral cooperation at multilateral fora and have firm belief that all conflicts can be resolved peacefully and there are no obstacles, which diplomacy cannot surmount and the Ukrainian conflict is no exception. He said developing countries like Pakistan are facing negative consequences in terms of economic impact of this conflict. He expressed the confidence that the strong tradition of diplomacy of the Russian state will help achieve a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

He thanked Sergey Lavrov for inviting him to visit Russia and reiterated Islamabad's commitment in deepening relations with Moscow.

Addressing the joint press conference, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Pakistan and Russia will continue their efforts for peace in the region.

He said both countries have convergence of views on many regional and international issues.

The Russian Foreign Minister said elimination of terrorism from the region is directly linked with Afghanistan and we have agreed to use the capacities of Shanghai Cooperation Organization especially its contact group on Afghanistan for this purpose.

Condemning the terrorist attack in Peshawar mosque today, Sergei Lavrov stressed that fight against terrorism should be more active all over the world without any double standards.

Expressing satisfaction over the current status of military cooperation between the two countries, the Russian Foreign Minister said we will continue to support the regular military contacts including joint exercises, military training and anti-terrorism capacities.

He said we have also planned to build humanitarian, cultural and educational links.

Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that present government is striving hard to improve the condition of Pakistan Railways.

He stated this while addressing Pakistan Railways' first ever branding conference under the aegis of RAILCOP in Lahore on Monday.

He said that branding of specific railway stations in different parts of the country will be done within the next sixty days to increase revenue.

He said all equipment and related gadgets installed for branding purposes will be properly protected.

Khawaja Saad Rafique said Supreme Court has accepted our point that we can use Railways' land for commercial purposes for five years.

The Railways Minister said the present government is working seriously on the ML-1 project which is part of CPEC.

He said Pakistan will manufacture 184 coaches itself as we have qualified personnel for this task.
