Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue Senator Saleem Mandviwalla has emphasized on combined global efforts to protect most vulnerable economies from surging food prices.

He expressed these views while, participating in TRT World Forum held in Istanbul.

Saleem Mandviwalla elaborated on the dynamics of post coronavirus pandemic global economy and said that the pandemic created pressure on already weak economies, widening the economic and social gaps.

He reiterated that significant financial and investment commitments towards creating climate-smart regulatory frameworks, adjustment of incentive structures, and strengthening land-use regulations are need of the hour.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister highlighted Pakistan's vulnerabilities to climate change and enhanced focus on effective climate mitigation and adaptation.

He highlighted the government's priority of transitioning into clean energy in order to save costs and protect the environment.

Special Economic Zones will help shape Pakistan's new industrial identity to stand with Chinese companies to embark on contemporary economic projects.

During an interview with China Economist Net, Chairman Special Economic Zones Authority Punjab SM Naveed said nine SEZs under CPEC would be a lifetime opportunity for Pakistani companies to collaborate with Chinese companies for the development of export-oriented manufacturing sectors.

He said it will also enable firms to cluster and tap the benefits of external economies, and will thus provide an opportunity to put domestic industries on a higher learning curve.

The Chairman expressed his belief that SEZs under CPEC has the potential to enhance productivity, integrate Pakistan with global value chains and revive its manufacturing industry in the long run.

Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif says the country will be back on the path of progress and development within a few months due to prudent economic policies of the incumbent government.

Addressing a workers convention in Sialkot on Sunday, the Minister said that we are striving to stabilize the national economy since we came into power.
