OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha accompanied by a five member delegation arrived in Islamabad on Saturday on a three day visit.

He is visiting at the invitation of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

During his visit, the OIC Secretary General will call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and hold delegation level meeting with the Foreign Minister to discuss issues on the agenda of OIC including Jammu and Kashmir, Islamophobia and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.

He will also visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The Secretary General's visit will enable exchange of views on how OIC can galvanize itself further to deliver on the aspirations of 1.9 billion Muslims that it represents.

National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said the government is taking practical measures to revive the economy, as the country is passing through hard times due to devastating floods.

Talking to the media in Lahore on Saturday, he said that situation would improve soon and Pakistan does not face any default risk.

He expressed confidence the country would soon come out of all kinds of difficulties as the government is taking various administrative measures to overcome challenges related to economy.

The speaker maintained that economic stability could only come from political stability and development is possible only by following the Constitution and law, as no country could develop or progress in the presence of uncertainty.

He said that incumbent government would complete its constitutional term.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited the Asia Pacific headquarters of Meta (Facebook), based in Singapore, where he launched the “Stars Programme” for monetization in Pakistan.

This will contribute to capacity building of young entrepreneurs as a valuable tool for Pakistan’s growing number of Meta content developers.

In a video message on the occasion, he said Pakistani creators can now earn money of their content through new Facebook stars feature.

The Foreign Minister pointed out that about two billion people use Meta platform every day and we want the people of Pakistan to also take benefit from it.

He said the Meta is working and investing in Pakistan and providing opportunities to our women and youth. He said this star monetization feature will help our people bring improvement in their economic conditions.

Ascend Athletics Pakistan program was launched in Islamabad on Saturday to promote leadership development through sports and civic engagement.

Under the program 60 girls would be trained next summer in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan in mountaineering and climbing, leadership, mental health, public service, and physical fitness in general.

First Lady Begum Samina Arif Alvi who was chief guest on the occasion appreciated the program hoping that it will have a positive impact on women's health, besides enabling girls to become useful and active citizens of the society.

She said women empowerment is imperative for development of the country.

Highlighting the severity of problem of malnutrition and children stunting in Pakistan's flood affected areas, she emphasized the need to take effective steps to overcome the issue of stunting and malnutrition.

Minister for Tourism Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Nasir Ali Khan said the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan possess immense talent which can be harnessed by developing collaborations and strengthening institutions.

He said more projects in mountaineering and rock climbing will be initiated in GB to promote adventure sports.

The event was attended by renowned mountaineers and climbers of Pakistan.

Minister for Poverty Alleviation Shazia Marri has said that government is committed to improve the living standard of under privileged and low income people through Benazir Income Support Programme.

She said this during her visit to the office of Central Zone of BISP in Karachi today.

Shazia Marri said the government is sincere in resolving the problems and grievances of the people through this program on priority basis and several steps are being taken to enhance the reach of the program.

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir visited Quetta and Turbat in Balochistan spread over two-days.

According to the ISPR, on the first day, COAS visited Corps Headquarters and laid floral wreath at Yadgare Shahuada and offered Fateha.

Later, the Army Chief was given detailed update on operational, training and other matters of the formation.

COAS also visited Command and Staff College Quetta and School of Infantry and Tactics and interacted with young officers and instructors and advised them to focus on professional excellence to meet future battlefield challenges.

On the 2nd day of the visit, COAS visited Turbat.

IGFC South Balochistan briefed COAS on prevailing security situation in Southern Balochistan and measures in place to ensure safe and secure environment.

Speaking on the occasion, the Army Chief said that every effort will be made for the security and safety of the people of Balochistan to ensure conducive environment for the socio-economic development resulting into sustainable peace and prosperity.

Earlier, on arrival at Quetta, COAS was received by Corps Commander Quetta Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor.
